Tripping is a safety feature
Your consumer unit trips to protect you. Repeated tripping means something is wrong and should be investigated rather than repeatedly reset.
Common causes
A faulty appliance (kettles, washing machines and outdoor equipment are frequent culprits), moisture in outdoor sockets or lights, a damaged cable, or an overloaded circuit.
Simple checks you can do
Unplug everything on the affected circuit, reset the switch, then plug items back in one at a time. If it trips with nothing plugged in, the fault is likely in the wiring and needs an electrician.
